What is Winter Magic?
The Winter Solstice occurs 9:59am 21st June 08. Come and celebrate it with us.
The Winter Solstice has been celebrated by civilisations ancient and new over millennia. Often concealed beneath myth, elaborate artifice and tradition, at its core it is a physical event.

It marks the commencement of winter and the journey back towards warmth and the promise of Spring. It is a moment of renewal and promise. For the the mountains it has a particular significance.

World Juggling Day 2009
World Juggling Day 20 June 2009 For the first time World Juggling Day will fall on the very day of the Festival. We can guarantee juggling will be a big part of the day. You can even join the Katoomba Juggling Institute. Watch this space for developments.See images and story from last year's World Juggling Day celebration in Katoomba.

20th and 21st June - Sidewalk Astronomy

On Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st June, members of the Western Sydney Amateur Astronomy Group (WSAAG) will take their telescopes out of the observatory grounds and into the streets of Katoomba. High powered telescopes will be set up in Carrington Place complete with solar filters so that the sun may be viewed safely. Find out more about WSAAG.

"Magic Happens" - listen to our song

One of Vicki Skeen's girls In 2005, talented local musician Peter Illich wrote the song "Magic Happens" then joined some friends in making this video clip.  The clip draws on footage from recent times and all the way back to Winter Magic early days in 1997 and 1998. You can listen to it here. We have only recently uncovered it and we love it. We hope you do too.
