How To Get Here On Event Day

Walk! Take a train! Explorer Bus! Grab-a-cab! Uber!

  • The Winter Magic Festival is a community festival situated in a Mountains Village. Katoomba Street only is closed.
  • Tens of thousands of people attend the festival so parking in a large radius around the festival site is challenging on the day. PARKING ON THE GREAT WESTERN HIGHWAY IS NOT PERMITTED.
  • There is LIMITED parking in Parke Street and in the Coles and Woolworths car parks, as well as Pioneer Place. We would appreciate it people who can easily walk leave those spaces for others less fortunate and park further afield.
  • The Winter Magic Festival strongly advises families and visitors frequenting this year's festival to utilise rail transport where possible. Additional Police and Railcorp Transit Officers will be deployed on Blue Mountains rail services.

Police urge all motorists to slow down and drive safely, especially in the Leura and Katoomba areas. A Traffic Management Plan will be in place. Traffic delays may be expected.

Pedestrians need to be aware of their surroundings when crossing roads and to make sure they wait for traffic lights, not run on pedestrian crossings, and follow the directions of traffic controllers.

Cars can be parked at nearby villages:

From the city - Woodford, Hazelbrook, Lawson, Bullaburra, Wentworth Falls & Leura.
From Lithgow - Mt Victoria, Blackheath, and Medlow Bath.

Many of these villages offer local shopping and coffee-shops which you may enjoy while waiting for the train.

Katoomba also has reliable taxi and bus services which really make the car unnecessary on festival day.

A fabulous way to get around Katoomba is via Blue Mountains Explorer Bus.
