ArtStreet Coodinator

Description

ArtStreet is a key element of Winter Magic and is an opportunity for artists from the Blue Mountains community to collaborate with businesses and bring Katoomba Street alive in the winter. At the beginning of June, around 50-70 artists place their works in 40 shop windows to make the ArtStreet exhibition, which is judged by members of the local arts community. Generous prizes are allocated to individual artists and there is a competition for People's Choice entrants. The exhibition wraps with a closing awards night, two weeks after Winter Magic.

The ArtStreet Coordinator reports to the committee and is responsible for liaising with artists and partner shops. The coordinator is guided by Winter Magic's Community Engagement Plan and negotiates and facilitates the installation of artworks in the windows of partner shops. The Coordinator is also responsible for ensuring the exhibition is promoted through Winter Magic's social media channels.

This role would suit an outgoing person who is a self-starter and is interested in promoting the arts within the local community. Previous ArtStreet coordinators have gained work in the arts, museums, or administration.

This position is well-supported with an email account and financial and other systems, including advice from the committee. The busiest times for the role are liasing with local businesses (April-May 2020), notifying artists and allocating shop space (May 2020) and ensuring artists install their work (early June 2020). The coordinator must also organise the closing event.
