Our vision – Making winter magic in Katoomba

Our mission – To engage the people of Katoomba and the Blue Mountains in a sustainable, vibrant, annual community winter solstice celebration of the arts and creativity centred on Katoomba Street.

First staged in 1994 as a celebration of the winter solstice, Katoomba’s Winter Magic Festival is the largest annual event in the Blue Mountains. We’re an inclusive event and we’re proud to provide our community with a precious day of connection and collective pride. Following on from the delivery of a refreshed version of our event in 2019, we are embarking upon a new period of the festival’s life.

Katoomba Winter Magic Festival seeks an experienced Event Coordinator to take responsibility for the delivery of the Winter Magic Festival on 20 June 2020. The Event Coordinator reports to the Committee and works within our Traffic Management and Risk Management Plans. Under the supervision of the Katoomba Winter Magic Committee as festival directors, the Event Coordinator is responsible for delivering event operations including:

  • Procurement of event goods and services

  • Managing the event production team, including Stalls Coordinator, Volunteer Coordinator, Programming Committee, Marketing and Communications Group and Waste Coordinator

  • Arrangement of vendors

  • On ground event management

  • Licenses, permits and compliance

  • Liaison with event delivery partners (As per our Community Engagement plan)

  • Operational plans and compliance 

  • TTM Plan & Management

  • Risk Assessment Plan & Management

  • WHS compliance, site management and monitoring

  • Assist with rostering of event operational resources

  • Onsite logistics

  • Event Administration and Contracting

  • Updating of all key documentation to ensure event delivery knowledge is kept within the organisation.

Desirable experience / qualifications: 3-4 years relevant work experience required for this role. Ideally the incumbent will hold a Degree level Qualification.

Desirable qualities: Exceptional verbal and written communications skills, personable, friendly disposition, collaborative and proactive.

This a contract position from January 2020 until July 2020. Remuneration will be on a fee-for-service basis. The coordinator must carry insurance.
